Fuyu-no-Sensu (冬の扇子) (Winter’s Fan) became my vision of what I wanted to create as an artist. Pips hidden on a tilted central template leaving the borders to become my canvas puzzle, while the courts themselves have no indices at all. To make up for the lack of court markings, the deck includes a unique, luxury, byobu (屏風) folding screen made by experts in Japan. Themed around winter, the design took on a vibrant but soft turquoise.
- Courts have no markings/indices
- Turquoise metallic ink and tuck foiling
- Custom designed tuck to house insert
- Includes Japanese byobu folding screen
Haru-no-Sensu (春の扇子) (Spring's Fan) became my middle-ground, my compromise for players. The pips are much the same but with variation in colour and location of metallic ink-work. The courts, however, now have central indices to clearly show what they represent. Themed around spring, the design adopted a striking vermilion.
- Courts have centered markings/indices
- Vermilion metallic ink and tuck foiling
