PROJECT PILIPINAS PHOTO SUMISSION

Hi! Thanks so much for your interest in this project. We’re working on a new deck of playing cards that will showcase the beauty of the Philippines, to be commercially published under the world-famous Bicycle brand.

The goal is to collect photos from different parts of the country, highlighting stunning places and everyday scenes that capture the spirit of each location. These photos will then be brought to life with original doodles by the artist Raki, adding a playful and animated touch to each image.

Here is how it would look:

Photo Ideas:

Here are some samples of locations/areas you can (but not limited to) submit:

  • Tubbataha Reefs, Palawan (underwater shot)
  • El Nido, Palawan
  • Baguio
  • Batanes
  • Banawe Rice Terraces
  • Vigan, Ilocus Sur
  • Boracay
  • Bohol
  • Guimaras (Manggahan Festival)
  • Cebu
  • Roxas City
  • Siargao
  • Mount Apo
  • Tawi-Tawi
  • Jeepney
  • Fishball
  • Festivals
  • Karaoke

And many more!

Photo Categories

The deck will be divided into four suits, each representing a theme:

1. Luzon
2. Visayas
3. Mindanao
4. Culture

For Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, we’re looking for photo submissions taken anywhere within those regions. These can be anything that captures the essence or atmosphere of the place. We’re intentionally keeping this open, so you’re free to interpret what best represents the area you're showcasing.

The Culture section, on the other hand, highlights aspects of Filipino life that are not tied to a specific location but are widely experienced across the country. Think halo-halo, karaoke, jeepneys, fiestas, tinikling, and other shared cultural touchpoints that feel unmistakably Filipino no matter where you are.

Photo Submission Requirements

To make sure your photo can be considered for the project, please follow these submission guidelines:

✔️ Original Work: Only submit photos you personally took and fully own the rights to.

✔️ High Resolution: Minimum of 3000px on the long side. RAW or uncompressed formats (like TIFF or high-quality JPEG) are preferred if selected.

✔️ Orientation: Photos can be in landscape or portrait. We may crop a section of the image that best suits the doodle, so just focus on capturing a strong scene.

✔️ No Watermarks: Please submit clean images with no text or logos

DOs

✔️ Submit only your original, unpublished photos.

✔️ Make sure the photo represents a place, object, or scene that feels uniquely Filipino.

✔️ Use natural lighting and minimal editing—let the location speak for itself.

✔️ Leave visual space—images that aren’t too cluttered allow more room for creative doodles.

✔️ Ensure your photo is not tied to any location or subject that would need legal clearance.

DON'Ts

❌ No visible human faces or easily recognizable individuals (to avoid privacy concerns).

❌ No commercial establishments, logos, brand signage, or product placements.

❌ No photos taken in restricted areas or private properties where permission is required (e.g., inside hotels, museums, churches).

❌ No AI-generated or heavily manipulated/composited images.

❌ No watermarks, borders, or text overlays on the image.

Selection Process

All submitted photos will be reviewed by the team. We’ll be selecting images that best align with the project’s creative direction.

If your photo is selected:

  • We will reach out to you directly and send over an agreement for your review and approval.
  • The names of the selected photographers will be listed in the extra cards included inside the Bicycle deck.
  • You will also be credited on our website and social media, if your photo or card is featured in any promotional content. When possible, we’ll include your name and social media handle.
  • You will be fairly compensated for the use of your image. As this is an independent creative project, we hope selected contributors can offer reasonable rates to help keep production sustainable. Compensation will be discussed and confirmed in the agreement once your photo is selected.

Please note that:

  • Selected photos may be edited, cropped, or modified to better fit the card layout and complement Raki’s doodle work.
  • By submitting a photo, you agree that it may be used for creative reinterpretation and presentation within the project.
  • You may submit as many photos as you like, as long as each one follows the submission guidelines outlined above.
