A handcrafted puzzle box made by master craftsman Hiroyuki Oka in Hakone Yosegi, Japan. Using traditional Yosegi-zaiku techniques that have been handed down for generations, Oka creates a stunning puzzle box that is not only a fun test of your puzzle-solving skills but also a unique work of art.

Each box features marquetry (yosegi) patterns that are completely unique, making each puzzle box a one-of-a-kind masterpiece. Based on the design of Traditional Yosegi-zaiku, which dates back to the Edo and Meiji eras of Japan (1800s), this puzzle box is an example of the finest Japanese craftsmanship.

To unlock the hidden compartment inside the box, you must successfully navigate the 10-step puzzle, including opening the lid panel at step 7 and accessing the drawer at step 10. With three moving panels and one key, this puzzle box is a challenging and engaging test of your puzzle-solving skills.

The outside of the box measures 150 x 98 x 70 mm, while the inside storage space measures 105 x 78 x 26 mm including the drawer space. The box comes with a description (solution sheet) and is packaged in an elegant gift box, making it the perfect gift for puzzle lovers and collectors alike.

Crafted entirely from wood, this Japanese puzzle box is an environmentally-friendly product. Each puzzle box is individually tested before shipping to ensure that it moves smoothly and meets Oka's exacting standards.

Experience the artistry and challenge of a traditional Japanese puzzle box, an heirloom-quality piece that will provide years of enjoyment and intrigue.

What is a secret box?

A secret box is a type of box that is designed to be opened only by solving a specific sequence of movements or manipulations. These boxes are often made of wood and have a hidden compartment or mechanism that can only be accessed by correctly opening the box.

What is the difference between a secret box and puzzle box?

Unlike puzzle boxes, which are typically solved through a logical sequence of steps, a secret box may or may not have a logical solution to open it. Additionally, while puzzle boxes often require a series of intricate and time-consuming steps to solve, a secret box can sometimes be opened with just one or a few simple movements.

One of the most defining features of secret boxes is their hidden seams or mechanisms that allow the box to be opened. These mechanisms can be quite intricate, making the opening of the box an interesting and rewarding experience. Secret boxes come in a wide variety of designs, ranging from simple boxes with a hidden compartment to elaborate creations with intricate internal mechanisms.
